This is a 1990 Gibson Les Paul Custom, the White has aged to a Cream. And there is a significant amount of wear and tear to this guitar. Nothing that affects the guitars playability and sound however. Just makes it look old.

The fretboard is practically untouched. Nobody has played this guitar, and it is definitely for sale if anyone is interested at all. PM me.

I’m about to enter the prep/surgery/recovery wormhole next week (edit: surgery at the end of August) , but I’m excited to get back to it next year. Hope you’re all having a great summer.

Im planning on building two guitars by ordering parts from Warmoth.

One will be a beautiful Black Stratocaster, with Gold hardware, Black Tone/Volume knobs, Parchment Pickguard, and Parchment Pickup covers. This will be with an Alder body, Chambered. The neck will have a Clapton ‘V’ contour, with a Rosewood fingerboard and Birdseye Maple neck.

The other, which I’m really looking forward to (because I just started looking into it today) is an all Rosewood Stratocaster. Black/White/Black Pickguard, White Tone/Volume Knobs, White pickup covers, and Gold hardware. This neck will be all Rosewood with a Wolfgang contour. And that is where the problem lies. I want a finished Rosewood neck. It just looks better. I know it can be done, but Warmoth doesn’t offer it as an option. Maybe when I’m ready to do this, and I call them up and ask them real nicely to do it, they might make an exception.

Don’t get me wrong, I completely respect Clapton and I don’t hesitate to call him a guitar god. He is without a doubt one of the best ever to grace us with his textbook fretwork, and a great artist. But his playing does not capture me.

John captures me.

Stevie captures me.

B.B. captures me.

Jimi captures me.

But for some reason, Clapton just doesn’t do it for me…

I like how one of the Youtube commenters put it, “Eric Clapton is a guitar god, he’s just not my god”.

Unless he was trying to make a religious statement that “we should not consider mere human-beings as Gods, in fear that we will upset our own judgmental, jealous God “.

In which case I disagree with the statement…

Jesse’s 60th Aniversary Fender American Stratocaster.

He just replaced the pick-ups to what I believe are just another kind of stock pickups, just a tad hotter. The other ones sounded far too thin.

He went ahead and replaced his aged white pick guard to a red tortoise pick guard.

I wasn’t really for the idea at first, but I’ve got to say I think it looks pretty sexy.

I’ve been listening to blues a lot recently…

I tried this earlier on when I was about 17. I really tried to enjoy blues for what it was, and it was just simple. And I couldn’t really get into it. See at that point, I was just really into complicated music. Odd Time Signatures, Effects, Complicated Progressions. Listened to a lot of Tool.

But now a few years later I have really learned to digest the genre and truly enjoy it. And thats a thing I feel many musicians (specifically guitarists) fail to do. There is just way to much stimulation in today’s world that when you look back on something as simple as blues it comes off as boring. And it feels like many are just recognizing it because they must, because its a ‘respect’ thing. And people need to know the roots for fear of being made fun of.

Anyways, while listening to the blues I’ve found an artist (who I’m not trying to belittle in anyway, and he needs no finding because he is very well known).

I truly enjoy his major-biased style. The way he took the blues and portrayed it in such a different light than other artists during his time. He is truly a joy for me to listen to.

Jimi Hendrix’s Monterey Pop Stratocaster

Possibly the most beautiful thing I’ve ever laid my eyes upon. It’s so retro, and so visually appealing, and even though it has been over 40 years since it was first seen, it hasn’t grown out of fashion.

This could be because we all secretly want to be at least half the player that Jimi was, and we seek ways to absorb that power. Like Lil’ Bow Wow in that movie “Like Mike”. Not exactly the example I would have liked to use, but thats all I’ve got.
